Internal innovation project
The past months, Bizzomate took part in one of the last five teams of ‘Innovate EY’: an internal innovation project that gives EY’s employees the opportunity to innovate services and internal processes. EY is aware that a large part of their services is sensitive to substitution by, for example technology, but also by new players and alternative business models.
Pilot & Execution
EY supports and facilitates large-scale innovation programs through advice, but also by organising (network) events to guide start-ups. This year, this expertise is also being used internally for the first time and resulted in a pilot for Innovate EY Netherlands. After this pilot, ‘Innovate EY’ will be introduced for all service lines in Belgium and the Netherlands.
The pilot started 10 months ago with 26 teams. In June, Mendix and Bizzomate got in touch with each other for the first time at Mendix World. The discussions there led to a successful match between Bizzomate and one of the five selected Innovation teams. In August both parties locked themselves up for 1.5 days for a “proof of concept” and built a complete demo app with the Mendix platform. The EY team saw their idea quickly emerging from the hands of just one Bizzomate consultant.
Elodie Laurent, consultant at Innovate EY: “It was very impressive to see how our ideas were translated into a functioning application. Not only the power of Charles (Bizzomate consultant) programming in full speed, but also his knowledge of the functionalities and user experience were of great value. What at first was a rough sketch, we could now present to potential users within a day. And above all, it was fully functional. This allowed us to implement their experience into the design, and we saw a growing enthusiasm for the idea. ”
Last month the peak of the innovation project was reached: Demo Day. In recent months, all of the teams were coached extensively. They had to write a business plan and had to do a killer pitch for a real investment board. Desired outcome: acquire funding to implement the idea. Charles Bronzwaer, the relevant consultant and operations manager of Bizzomate was impressed: “It was a professional event, especially considering it was an internal one. EY is proud of EY and they are not afraid to show it. The presentations were of high quality and the presenters were well prepared. ”
The Mendix platform is ideal to build an application quickly and to book immediate visible results, but it is also robust enough to make the demo app enterprise ready.
For Bizzomate this challenge was very appropriate too. Philippe Neven, sales consultant at Bizzomate: “Not only can we help customers in the industry with our expertise, but also for us as an organization it is very important to gain these experiences. We feel it works to be in the field and to know which ideas can be identified by our customers, stay close to newest developments and be a part of it. Bizzomate is glad to participate in all of this. The EY project was inspiring in the professional approach and implementation for us. We hope, Bizzomate has made a valuable contribution … ”
The five ideas were all well received by the investment board and all teams were given the promise that they will be supported!
