Mendix Partner of the Year
The celebration of the partner of year award was combined with our annual “FedEx-day” (best described as an internal hackathon). We lock ourselves up for 24 hours and create a number of brand new and innovative concepts. Previous hackathons resulted in several great ideas. This FedEx was next level, since we invited external participants as well. Together with Knowliah (our newest partner and specialist in enterprise search and document management), Mendix, Documentaal (specialist in Document Creation and Document Assembly) and our sister company Avola Decision, we occupied a charming and cosy farm in Brabant.
The fun of such a gathering is that everyone gets to know each other a little bit better. Especially because we welcomed 7 new Bizzomate consultants since the last FedEx! At Bizzomate fun is often accompanied by beer, so there was a beer tasting. Bernard, from ‘Reuzen bieren‘, organised a fun and tasty beer tasting. Even after those beers, everyone worked until the late hours with great results as an outcome!
We as Bizzomate build smart, efficient and suitable business applications based on Mendix and Avola which are unique for every client. As nice as this is, these applications still remain a tailor-made solution and that makes it sometimes difficult to explain what exactly we can do. So the challenges we handed out to the teams were as follows: “Build a nice demo application to present our concepts and expertise.” Strengthened by Mendix, Avola, Knowliah and Documentaal, we started to work.
One of the teams, “Accountancy”, built a customer communication portal. Through interactive “tiles” the auditor is able to offer services to its customers. Besides this, the Accountancy team developed a number of services, including “Tax Aid” -which contains several mathematical models to help customers calculate interest rebate-, and the “Annual Report” -which provides a process-oriented overview of the various tasks customers and auditors have in the annual report process. We are trying to include the various services offices already offered to customers in just one portal, but now spread-out over various portals, either on paper or via email.

In the same 24 hours, Team “Smoelenboek”, in collaboration with Knowliah, was able to build a Mendix application which produces a dynamic expert profile based on internal and external content about an individual. A great solution which can be used for searching within an organization with a large number of knowledge workers such as law firms.
Besides these two, four other demos were developed. All showing a piece of the solutions we –together with our clients- are able to offer to our customers. Tired but satisfied we left the farm again and we now look forward to show the demos to our customers and associates!
